Minnesota Vacation

What happened to July?  By far our busiest month every year, it’s always gone in a flash.  We just got home from a week long family vacation at our cabin near the Boundary Waters in Northern MN.  We did a lot of hiking and boating and relaxing on the lake.

Things I learned while backpacking with a 2 year old:

  • 83 mosquito bites while backpacking 8 miles to a remote lake is actually an attainable number for one person.
  • Having a 2 year old toddler strapped to your back, screaming 6″ from your ear for a mile, because he missed his nap, is a great way to work on your patience.
  • If you have a kid carrier backpack rated for 50 lbs, and your two year old weighs 31 lbs, don’t throw your camera gear in the pack.  Apparently 68 lbs is enough to break one.  But don’t worry it won’t break until you’re at least 4 miles in.

Here are a few images of Noah having a good time.  This was a family vacation so I didn’t spend all of my time chasing perfect photo ops, but I did manage to get a couple of quick snapshots I’ll try to get up later in the week when I get caught up again.
