About Luke Tingley

I'm Luke Tingley, a landscape photographer based in Des Moines, Iowa. While the Midwest's flatlands have their own subtle charm, they lack the towering mountains and endless oceans I crave.

I've been pursuing photography for over 20 years, fueled by adventures in backpacking, hiking, diving, and venturing far off the beaten path. From the Arctic Circle to Antarctica—and everywhere in between—I seek out untamed wilderness to push my limits and explore paths less traveled.

Through my images, I aim to transport you into those epic moments: the profound solitude, the awe-inspiring scale, our humbling insignificance, and occasionally the raw power of nature. My hope is that they inspire you to step into the amazing world around us and chase your own adventures.

Join me in exploring the wild places that remind us how vast and powerful the outdoors can be.

Time is the only currency you spend without knowing your balance; spend wisely.

You only get one sunrise and one sunset a day, and you only get so many days on the planet. A good photographer does the math and doesn’t waste either.

In the end, you won't remember the time you spent in the office or mowing your lawn.

There's an old saying: "I never knew it was the chase I sought and not the quarry."

-Forrest Fenn

Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints.

Leave no trace, Sasquatch has been doing it for years.
